Library Renovation Update

• General Information
• Contractor has 30 days (end of June) to submit complete schedule for Review.
• University and Contractor has 90 days (end of August) to work out all the details and finalize the schedule
• Contractor will give us a 2 week look ahead at each meeting
• We will send e-mails as necessary

FUTURE CONSIDERATIONS

All power to both buildings will be shut down for a 12 hour period to make change over to new power systems.

Each building will be done separately

Library Renovation Update

• Demo on 2nd and 3rd Floor of Academic Services building currently underway - Estimated completion week of June 26
• Trash chute has been constructed on north side of building
• Trash chute will be constructed on south side of building -Being constructed 6/20/06
• Demo work hours increased to meet deadlines
• Excavation for elevators will not begin until all materials are out of 2nd and 3rd floors Estimate around July 15
• Bead blasting to remove mastic from floors on 2nd floor in process expect to finish by Friday June 16-2nd floor done
• All utilities connections have been secured - electrical, hvac and water
• Abatement of 2nd and 3rd will occur concurrently
• Abatement continuing - estimated completion week of July 3
• Elevator tower on AS side
• Current fencing in this area - 180 days - (through December)
• Beach Hut
• Temporary entrance into Beach - under construction

• NEW ITEMS
• Will begin layout of ceilings and walls on 2nd and 3rd week of June 26
• Ear plugs will be available to staff on 1st floor of AS building
• Ear plugs for staff, students, library clients will be available through the library
• Library PA system has been isolated - no PA in AS building
• Ceiling work in AS 120 deferred until Aug 21

• Barrier walls are under construction on lower level, 1st floor, in stairwells, etc.
• Elevator issue has been resolved
• First phase (lower and 1st) estimated to be approximately 7 - 8 months. (Feb-March 07)
• Should begin demo in Library week of June 19th
• Will begin utilities work week of June 26
• Elevator tower next to MM building
• Are removing landscape and hardscape next to MM 100 within the week.

AS 120

• Demo of ceiling/ceiling tile in AS120
• Due to begin around July 1- see above - this has been delayed until Aug 21
• Demo takes one week-
• HVAC reinstall takes 3 weeks
• Area includes all of Center for Community Engagement and part of ED PAC
• Resolve plan in the works with affected tenants.

Library Renovation Update

• General Information
• Contractor has 30 days (end of June) to submit complete schedule for review.
• University and Contractor has 90 days (end of August) to work out all the details and finalize the schedule
• Contractor will give us a two-week forecast at each meeting with the CSULB Project Management Team.
• Some building materials will be delivered using the fire lane traveling west from East Campus Drive, past PH1, then south on the walkway from F03 to the Beach Hut. Please watch for vehicles.
• Because parking is being lost during the construction, the Anatol Center is not to be scheduled for any activities to which campus visitors are invited

• First phase (lower level and 1st floor) estimated to be approximately 7 - 8 months. (Feb-March 07)
• Demolition work in the Library scheduled to begin week of June 19th
• Elevator tower next to MM building
• Are removing landscape and hardscape next to MM 100 within the week.
• Will not excavate for the new elevator tower until 3rd floor AS demolition is complete.

• Relocation of the Learning Assistance Center and Academic Advising should be complete by Aug 1st.

• Today was first meeting with contractor, architect, CSULB Project Management Team.
• General Information

• Contractor will provide a 2 week forecast at each meeting

• Academic Services due to complete April 07
• Library due to complete November 07

• Demo on 2nd floor of AS Building
• Lighting and carpet are out
• Demo on 3rd floor of AS Building
• Developing plan of execution - how to get the material out of the building
• Electrical and HVAC Sub contractors are doing exploratory work to determine feed sites for future disconnection/reconnection
• Electrical Closets, ceilings, plumbing
• Elevator tower on AS side
• Removing and reutilizing brick
• Digging in this space in approx 10 - 12 days
• Current fencing in this area - 180 days - (through December)
• Beach Hut
• Temporary entrance into Beach Hut will be through the north double doors of Academic Advising
• Plant Operations will build a vestibule inside to protect Academic Advising.
• Once fencing is down (see above), Beach Hut Services will be returned to exterior entrance
