Ed. D. in Educational Leadership

Beginning fall 2007, California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) will be one of the first campuses in the California State University system to offer an independent doctoral program, Ed.D. in Educational Leadership. This program represents a major achievement and advancement in the history of higher education in California and addresses the demand for highly qualified educational leaders for P-12 school districts and community colleges. Representatives from P-12 school districts and community colleges will be working collaboratively with CSULB faculty and administrators to design, implement, and evaluate this program. Although currently under development, we would like to share the following initial program information: The Ed.D. in Educational Leadership at CSULB will: - develop and support educational leaders who are well-prepared to address the challenges faced by P-12 school districts and community colleges,
- offer two program strands:
- Educational Leadership in the P-12 School Districts
- Educational Leadership in Community College/Higher Education,
- be offered as a cohort model to facilitate the development of learning communities and professional networks,
- structure courses to accommodate and benefit from the full-time employment responsibilities of program participants,
- and be designed to be completed in three years.
