School Psychology FAQ Detail

PPS Credential/Masters School Psychology

  1. What is the relationship between the school psychology credential program and masters programs?
  1. The school psychology program at CSULB is not a degree-granting program. Upon completion, students are eligible to receive the California Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) credential in school psychology, which is required to work as a school psychologist in any public k-12 California school.

In addition to completing the 60 credit course of study for the school psychology program, student must complete a masters program. Masters degrees in the behavioral sciences from another accredited University are generally acceptable or the student may complete the joint Educational Psychology/School Psychology program which results in a masters in Educational Psychology and eligibility for the PPS school psychology credential upon completion.
