Biography

Dr. John P. Murray is a Professor of Higher Education at California State University, Long Beach.  He has had a 25-year career as a faculty member and administrator in community colleges.  He is the author of 80 publications.  He has presented at over 60 national and international conferences. His research has focused on faculty development and teaching issues at the undergraduate level. He was a consultant for the Republic of Yemen where he designed the administration policies and procedures as well as trained the administrators for the establishment of the first community colleges in Yemen. He has also consulted with community colleges in Vietnam.                   His honors include the 1999-2000 Texas Tech University Rushing Faculty Distinguished Research Award, 1998-99 the College of Education’s nominee for Texas Tech University’s Hemphill-Wells New Professor Excellence in Teaching Award, 1998 Emerging Scholar Award from the Council for the Study of Community Colleges (affiliated with the American Association of Community Colleges), 2008 inclusion in Marquis Who's Who in America Marquis Who's Who in the World, and 2008 edition of Marquis Who's Who in American Education.
