Jennifer J Coots

Dr. Coots joined the CSULB faculty in 1997.  She teaches courses on Child Development, Philosophical and Legal Foundations of Inclusive Education, and Collaborative Partnerships.  She began her career as a special education teacher for students with significant disabilities where she developed a model integrated educational program.  She then served for 10 years as the director of an ongoing longitudinal study of 100 families of children identified at age 3 with developmental delays of unknown etiology.  She received her Ph.D. from a joint program offered by UCLA and CSULA.  Her primary research interests are in the areas of family adaptations to a child with disabilities, family patterns of interaction and participation with school and other service delivery systems, and strategies for successful inclusive education.

Coordinator of Master of Science in Special Education program. Chair of College Curriculum Committee 2004-2006.  Member of University Resources Council.
