Catherine RichardsAssistant Professor - Department of Advanced Studies in Education and CounselingOffice: ED2-266 Phone: 562-985-1938 Email: crichar4@csulb.edu Website: www.ced.csulb.edu BiographyDr. Cara Richards completed her Ph. in 2004 at University of California, Santa Barbara in Special Education, Risk, and Disability Studies. During this time she taught courses in the special education programs at both CSUCI and UCSB. She also worked extensively with schools in early reading interventions for English Learners to prevent learning disabilities. Prior to completing her doctorate at UCSB she worked as both an instructional assistant in special education for students with mild disabilities and as a first grade general education teacher. Her main research interests include early reading interventions for students at-risk, particularly EL, response to instruction models for identifying students with learning disabilities, and multimedia instruction for teacher pre-professional development.
