School Psychology Courses

Course of Study for Regular Credential & Internship Credential

The school psychology credential student must complete the following courses or their equivalencies:

  • EDP 517: Seminar in School Counseling*
  • EDP 520: Research Methods in Education
  • EDP 524A & B: Psychoeducational Assessment
  • EDP 525A & B: Psychoeducational Assessment in Multicultural Settings*
  • EDP 527: Advanced Assessment for Intervention*  **
  • EDP 528: Orientation to Professional School Psychology*
  • EDP 536: Collaborative Consultation in the Schools
  • EDP 560: Behavioral Analysis and Positive Behavioral Interventions*
  • EDP 579: Curriculum-based Assessment and Academic Interventions*
  • COUN 601: Trauma and Grief Counseling
  • EDP 605: Theories of learning, cognition, motivation and social development*
  • EDP 641A & B: School Psychology Practicum (300 hours total)
  • EDP 642A-B: Field Work – School Psychology (1200 hours total)*
     
  • Plus 12 elective credits from approved graduate-level courses.

Total = 60 credits

* Equivalencies not accepted
** Courses taken concurrently with Fieldwork

The following pre-requisites must be completed prior to enrolling in many of the courses listed above. Prerequisites do not need to be completed prior to applying or being admitted to the program.

  • EDP 301 (or 302): Child (or Adolescent) Development and Learning
  • EDP 405: Positive Strategies for Classroom Management
  • EDP 419: Educational Statistics

Total = 9 credits of prerequisites

Additional Educational Psychology courses for joint program

  • EDP 604: Human Development

And:

Thesis Option:

  • EDP 698: Thesis (6 units total)
  • Pick one: EDP 519: Quantitative Educational Data Analysis; EDP 541: Educational Measurement and Assessment; EDP 595: Qualitative Research Methods; EDP 596: Program Evaluation in Education; or EDP 696: Thesis Study- Plan Development and Organizing Aspects.

Comprehensive Exam Option:

  • EDP 519: Quantitative Analysis
  • EDP 541: Educational Measurement and Assessment
  • EDP 596: Program Evaluation in Education

Total = 12 credits from the Educational Psychology Master's degree requirements
