School Psychology Advising
Advising
All incoming students to the program are assigned an advisor and are required to meet with him or her in the spring or summer prior to beginning the program in the fall. In this meeting, a 2-3 year schedule of courses is drafted. Thereafter, mandatory advising is conducted each November via the Calyx Memo
Students submit the memo to their advisor as a plan for completing courses, culminating projects, practicum, and fieldwork/internship. Student or advisor questions or concerns also may be addressed at that time and an in-person advising meeting may be requested by either party. Please note that students may request an in-person advising meeting at any time during the academic year. Advisors are available during scheduled office hours or by appointment.
Joint Educational Psychology/School Psychology students who are assigned to Drs. Powers or Gamble also have an Educational Psychology advisor (Drs. Masunaga, Kim or Totorici-Luna). Students should meet with this advisor about the masters degree requirements (e.g., advancement to candidacy, thesis and comps, etc.).
