Services for Children and Adolescents

Psychoeducational Assessment

The Clinic offers psychoeducational assessment to determine a child's individual strengths and weaknesses. After administering cognitive, achievement and processing tests, a written report is provided to parents with intervention recommendations based on the child’s needs including whether services offered at our Clinic (e.g., tutoring and/or counseling) would be appropriate. The cost of this service is $150, for 4-5 individual sessions. Assessments are conducted once a year (March - April).

Tutoring (Academic Interventions for Stuggling Students)

Individual academic assessment and intervention sessions are available on a weekly (Spring) and twice weekly (Fall) basis for children requiring intense intervention in the areas of reading, writing and math. Evidence-based interventions are selected and individually administered based on curriculum-based assessments of the student's academic skills. The cost of this service is $250, for 10 to18 individual one-hour sessions. A final report, which details the assessment results, the child's responsiveness to intervention, and recommendations for future academic interventions, is provided. Services begin February (reading/writing) and October (reading, writing, and math).

Counseling

The Clinic offers individual counseling to provide children with skills to help them cope with problems that inhibit their learning, social interactions and emotional well-being. The child’s counselor concentrates on areas such as emotional resiliency, assertiveness, self-esteem building, listening, communication, and motivation. The cost of this service is ($15.00 per session; 3 session minimum). Services are provided on Wednesday afternoons during the Academic School Year.

Early Childhood Clinic

The Clinic offers early childhood assessments for children ages 3 to 6. A final report summarizing the child's performance on cognitive, social/emotional adjustment and pre-academic assessments will be provided. The cost of this service is $25 and the assessment is completed in one morning in November.

Substantial scholarships for all of the above services are available based on financial need.
