Programs
The Integrated Teacher Education Program
(ITEP) combines the study of academic subject matter for
elementary school teaching with professional preparation and student teaching.
Successful completion of ITEP includes both a Bachelor of Arts degree
and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. This program can be completed
in 4 years.
Liberal Studies Track I is our
traditional teacher education program where students complete their Bachelor's
degree in Liberal Studies and then go on to complete their teaching credential
either at CSULB or at another university. Students can go on to complete
either their Multiple Subject Teaching Credential or a Special Education
Teaching Credential. Track I also includes a concentration. The concentration
consists of 4 or 5 courses in a specific subject area of the student's
chosing. Track I is an approved pre-professional program of subject matter
preparation consistent with the standards established by the California
Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
The Track II has been discontinued. No new majors are being
admitted into this program.
