Current StudentsDeclared Liberal Studies students are encouraged to see a Liberal Studies program advisor at least once a year. The Liberal Studies office offers a variety of advising options including individual, group, and walk-ins. Advising OptionsIndividual AdvisingStudents meet one-on-one with a Liberal Studies advisor. The program planner is updated and reviewed, progress is evaulated, and various deadlines are discussed. These appointments are suitable for students who have questions or problems of a personal nature, or who prefer to meet individually. These appointments are also available to student who are on probation and those seeking reinstatement into the university. Individual appointments are limited to maximum of 30 minutes unless an extended advising session is approved by an advisor. Group AdvisingStudents meet with a Liberal Studies advisor in a group setting with students in the same program. Freshman mandatory Fall advising will be conducted in a group setting. Those students who are interested in declaring Liberal Studies as a major must attend an Open File Workshop, which is also conducted in a group setting. Time will be alotted at the end of the session for individual questions. Walk-inAvailable for students who have general or quick questions. Walk-in advising is handled on a first-come first-serve basis and is limited to a maximum 15 minutes. Students with more specific or complex issues or concerns will be recommended to schedule an individual appointment with an advisor. During this time, students may phone-in to speak with an advisor. Calls will be answered in the order in which it was received and based on the availability of the advisor. FALL 2009 WALK-IN SCHEDULE
*Walk-ins are subject to periodic cancellation due to Advisors' furlough days Open-File WorkshopIf you are interested in declaring Liberal Studies as a major, you will need to attend an open-file workshop. These take place in a group setting, and are lead by a Liberal Studies advisor. You will be introduced to the programs, receive an prelimary course evaulation, and have the opportunity to ask questions regarding your academic progress. Should you decide to declare into Liberal Studies, the advisor will declare you into the major and an official file will be constructed and stored in our office.
