Biography

I have been a student development educator in the classroom as a professor or as a practitioner in the field for over 20 years. I have a passion for helping college and university students get the most out of their education and in helping faculty, administrators and staff work the best to make that happen. My research interests center around college student development, primarily in the areas of ethnic identity development, multicultural education and professional issues in student affairs. My work at CSULB has included serving as a primary faculty member the Student Development in Higher Education M.S. program, a coordinator of the counseling program, a co-director in both our joint and indepedent doctoral programs, and on various committees and consultations across the college and campus. My professional involvement includes active membership in NASPA, ACPA, ASHE, and AERA. My personal passions include travel, family and friends, wine and my cairn terrier.
