Biography

Rebecca L. Canges completed her undergraduate work in Psychology at California State University, Long Beach. She went on to complete both her Masters in Special Education and Education Specialist Teaching Credential at CSULB as well. She is currently working toward her Doctorate in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Teacher Education in Multicultural Societies at USC.

 

Mrs. Canges has over 8 years of classroom experience in special education classrooms where she has worked as an RSP teacher and Special Day Class teacher serving students with Mild/Moderate disabilities and students with Orthopedic Impairments.

 

Before teaching Mrs. Canges worked as a research assistant under Dr. Jana Echevarria on her project implementing the Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol to increase the effectiveness of instruction for English Language Learners. In addition, she served as a Demonstration teacher for the Education Specialist program at CSULB.

 

Mrs. Canges areas of interest include both in-service and pre-service teacher education, promoting collaborative teams between special and general education teachers and implemeting awareness programs into schools to increase understanding of people with disabilities while promoting self-advocacy in students with disabilities.
