Scholarship Application InformationGeneral Information:In order to be eligible for a College of Education scholarship, you must be CURRENTLY ADMITTED to a College of Education program. Proof of admission must be provided if you are not enrolled at CSULB during the semester that you submit your scholarship application. Scholarships are awarded for the 2008-2009 academic year. If you will be enrolled in fewer than 6 units in either fall 2008 or spring 2009, you are not eligible for scholarships during this application period. By filling out this single application, you are applying for all College of Education scholarships for which you are eligible. After your application is submitted, various committees meet and your application is considered for every scholarship for which you are eligible. Award Notifications will be sent the fourth week of April 2008. Complete application packets are due to the Dean's Office (ED1-5) February 8, 2008 by 5:00 p.m. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. A complete application packet includes the following:
Do not put your application in any type of binding or folder. Further, please assemble the application with a paperclip - do not staple any of the materials. A few scholarships granted in the College of Education require an interview. If you are being considered for a scholarship that requires an interview, you will be contacted and an interview time will be set. Please save the date of May 29, 2008 for the College of Education's Scholarship Reception where you will be recognized if awarded a scholarship. This is a great opportunity to meet your generous scholarship donors! Personal Statements:To many of the committee members reviewing your application, your personal statement is the most important piece of your application. That being said, it is critically important that you ensure that your statement is well written, free of typographical and grammatical errors, and has no misspelled words. Please have someone proofread your personal statement before submitting your application. Letters of Recommendation:If you have experience working in your intended field, it is strongly encouraged that you ask your supervisor to complete a Scholarship Recommendation on your behalf. Recommendations from those who can personally attest to your strengths in this field strengthen your application. Two sample letters of application are included in this packet. If the person who is writing a letter of recommendation would prefer to write a letter rather than using the attached form that will be acceptable. Please make certain the letter of recommendation addresses the five categories outlined on the form. |
