America Reads/Counts Federal Work Study Program

Resources for Students hired as tutors for the America Reads/Counts Federal Work Study Program.

Dates to Remember

August 31, 2012: Hiring Meeting - New and returning applicants will receive information about meeting time and location.

September 6th and 7th, 2012: - Training for newly hired students. Sign up HERE.

September 17, 2012 - October 1, 2012: Work Site Assignments
- Placement Confirmation will be sent via email to your CSULB email account

December 19, 2012 - Last day to work for Fall Semester (student voucher due December 14th)

January 2, 2013- January 18, 2013 Winter Session: Campus policy does not allow ARC tutors to work over Winter session. Tutors may resume their work in the classroom at the start of Spring semester (January 22, 2013).

May 18, 2013: Last day to work for Spring Semester

Every Friday: Remind your supervising teacher or site coordinator to report your Tutoring Hours.

15th of the month: Paycheck available for pick up in ED1-17 for 5 business days. After 5 business days, paychecks will be delivered to Cashiers for pick up.

20th of the month: Check your CSULB email account for your Student Voucher.

25th of the month*: Student Vouchers are due to ED1-17 (*November due 26th | December due 14th | May due 13th)

Shift Scheduled Adjustments

Tutoring shifts are broken up into 2 hour blocks: 8am-10am, 8:30am-10:30am, 10am-12pm, 10:30am-12:30pm, 1pm-3pm, 1:30pm-3:30pm and 3pm-5pm. Tutors are expected to arrive on time and stay for the complete shift. You may select overlapping shifts, but you must work the full shift...For example: You select Monday shifts for 8:00-10:00 and 8:30-10:30, you will work a total of 2.5 hours

Tutors who are consistently arriving late or who do not keep their regular shifts may be separated from the program.  

If you plan on taking any days off from your normal shift schedule, you must inform your Supervisor at the start of the semester. If you are absent due to a personal or medical emergency, please notify the ARC Program Coordinator as soon as possible and they will contact your Supervisor.

Work Site Placement Request

Below is a map of schools participating in the ARC Program. Once your paperwork and clearance has been completed the ARC coordinator will process your placement request. Check your email for your Work Site Placement Confirmation form and your google document for placement details.
