Student InformationWelcome to the SERVE Program.The SERVE Program is a Long Beach Education Partnership Project. It is administered through the Center for Collaboration in Education. The SERVE Program has been partially funded by the National Science Foundation's Collaborations for Excellence in Teacher Preparation Program. It creates an opportunity for students at the undergraduate level, in particular for those who are considering careers in K-12 education, to learn about the realities of urban classrooms and the needs of the diverse K-12 student population. SERVE Program Materials will be available on the SERVE website.
SERVE Online System - Login using your Student ID and Beachboard Password to check your placement / status.
Please keep a journal for reflection during an independent rotation. Journals will be submitted electronically via email. See link for details. *If you encounter problems navigating to the Online System, try using a different web browser (ex: Firefox or Safari) or contact the CSULB Technology Help Desk at (562) 985-4959 or E-mail helpdesk@csulb.edu.
Orientation and Training: Orientation to the SERVE Program - The following link provides a video description of placement procedures http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8M26ZU31Xhs Training - In person for students who are new to SERVE and will not receive training in their CSULB course. Students who have submitted proof of EDEL 200 completion (copy of Field Evaluation) at a community college are not required to attend SERVE training. Winter 2010 - Training for new students enrolled in EDEL 200 will be completed in class.
Placement: PLACEMENT* REQUESTS FOR WINER 2010 WILL OPEN DEC. 1ST. To check placement, select the link above under 'SERVE Online System' and log in using your student ID#. When your status shows up as "Placed" for the current session, you may contact the coordinator for the site where you were placed. The coordinator will give you the details for your assignment (location, name of teacher, grade level). If, for any reason, you will not be able to complete your assignment after being placed, please contact the SERVE Office immediately to cancel your placment.
