Dr. William Jeynes, Professor in the Department of Teacher Education named recipient of the University Distinguished Faculty Scholarly and Creative Achievement Award

Dr. William Jeynes has been awarded the Distinguished Faculty Scholarly and Creative Achievement Award letter from the Academic Senate. The Distinguished Faculty Scholarly and Creative Achievement Award, established in 1982, is designed to encourage, reward, and publicly acknowledge sustained excellence in scholarly and creative achievement by members of the University’s faculty.

Dr. Angela Locks appointed to editorial board of Journal of College Student Development

Assistant Professor, Dr. Angela Locks, from the Advanced Studies in Education and Counseling Department has been appointed to serve a three year term on the Editorial Board of the Journal of College Student Development (JCSD). JCSD is a publication of the American College Personnel Association (ACPA), a prominent student affairs association.

Marriage & Family Therapy Students Recognized at CSULB Student Research Competition

On February 24, 2012, 3 graduate students from the Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) program represented the College of Education at the 24th Annual CSULB Student Research Competition. The purpose of the competition is to showcase excellence in scholarly research and creative activity conducted by CSULB students in the full range of academic programs offered by CSULB.

Center for Language Minority Education and Research (CLMER) hosts English Learner Summit on March 17th

The Center for Language Minority Education and Research (CLMER) housed in the College of Education at California State University, Long Beach is hosting an English Learner Summit: Looking at English Learners through the Common Core State Standards on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at CSU Long Beach from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The goal of the Summit is to provide an overview of the new Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for K-8 grade levels, in general, and will look specifically at English Learners.
