MSCP Spanish/English BCLAD Internship Program Course of StudyThis variation of the Preliminary Multiple Subject Teaching Credential Preparation Program is designed for full-time teachers in districts with which CSULB has an intern agreement and a contract who additionally wish to add BCLAD to their credential. All students in this program must be employed by the district as the full-time teacher of record in a multiple subjects self-contained classroom and have demonstrated subject matter competence by having passed the CSET, and they must meet all requirements both for the Internship program and for the Spanish BCLAD. (Total units: 40 plus BCLAD requirements) Courses are listed in recommended sequence. Pre-Application Requirements
Prerequisites (4 units)These two courses are designed to be taken concurrently. However, a student who has already completed EDEL 380 may apply to the MSCP and take EDP 303 independently.
Corequisite Courses (5 units)These two courses may be taken prior to being admitted to the MSCP.
BCLAD Requirements (2-5 units)Courses may be taken prior to being admitted to the MSCP and must be completed prior to student teaching. Exams may be completed during student teaching.
Subject Specific Pedagogy Courses (15 units)Students must be admitted to the Multiple Subject Credential Program to take the following pedagogy courses. BCLAD Interns are exempt from the OFF-CAMPUS requirement.
Student Teaching (16 units)One semester before taking EDEL 472A and 472B, students must attend a Student Teaching Application Meeting and submit an application to student teach at the beginning of that semester. Students must participate in the required orientation series. Student teaching is a full-day, semester-long responsibility. Interns must meet the alternate grade placement requirement, and their BCLAD experience must be approved by the school principal, University Supervisor, and BCLAD Advisor.
