M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction, Elementary Course of StudyThe following curriculum is effective Fall 2004. Students currently in the Elementary C & I Masters Program continue under the requirements of the program to which they were admitted Methods of Social Science Inquiry (6 units)
Core Requirements (15 units from the following)
Concentration (9 units) Candidates select an area of concentration, in consultation with the program Advisor, tailored to their professional goals. A Concentration must follow a pattern or theme; a disparate set of unrelated courses is not a concentration. Concentrations may follow one of the following patterns, or may be uniquely devised by the candidate. Candidates submit a written statement containing a coherent rationale for and describing the concentration sequence. Candidates are responsible for taking prerequisite courses.
Capstone Experience (0-6 units)
Course Sequence: Candidates should take EDCI 500 and EDP 400 in their first semester as foundation courses. They are encouraged to take EDCI 505 and the remaining three units of social science inquiry in the second semester, followed by EDCI 530, EDCI 625, and EDCI 695 (recommended to be taken in the final semester). Concentration courses may be taken at any time. All candidates should meet with the program Advisor to discuss an efficient program plan. |
