Master of Arts in Education, Dual Language Development - What's New!
Professor Trini Lewis is the co-principal investigator for a federal grant in the amount of $300,000.00 to improve graduate education from the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Post-secondary Education. The grant's focus is to develop teacher candidates who are committed to better serving English learners in secondary schools settings. Teacher candidates will pursue a teaching credential and a master's degree simultaneously and participate in a series of leadership institutes to prepare them as exemplary instructional leaders. Graduate candidates will be recruited in Spring 2010 and the first leadership institute will begin in Summer 2010. The grant is based on an innovative model co-developed by Professor Lewis and will be implemented over a two-year period from 2009-2011.
