Early Childhood Education Course of
Study
The Master's of Art in Education, Early Childhood Education program requires a minimum of 30 units with
at least 21 units in the 500/600 level series at this University. In
consultation with the Advisor, students will select a comprehensive
examination track, thesis track, or project track. For academic advisement, please contact

- EDP 301 - Child Development and Learning: A Cross-cultural Perspective
(1-3 units) OR
HDEV 307I - Human Development: Childhood through Adolescence (3 units) OR
PSY 361 - Psychology of Child and Adolescent Development (3 units) OR
equivalent
- EDEL 420 - Teaching and Learning in the Kindergarten and Primary Grades
- EDEL 482 - Student Teaching in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse
Classrooms OR
One year of documented and approved teaching experience
Note: Prerequisite courses, EDP 301 and EDEL 420, if not taken before, can be taken within the first year of your enrollment into the program
