Advancement to Candidacy for Master of Arts in Education
Initial acceptance to the University and specific program is conditional.
Full admission to a Master’s degree program occurs through advancement
to candidacy. Advancement to candidacy signifies approval of a plan of
study by the department and college, and grants you assurance of Catalog
rights as an unconditional graduate student in the program. The Catalog
in effect at the time of advancement to candidacy is the governing document
for your program.
All students should submit their Advancement to Candidacy application
as soon as they are eligible to advance. At a minimum, students must
have passed the WPE (or approved alternative) and completed 6 units of
program coursework. Applications and instructions are available in the Graduate
Studies Office. Individual programs have different requirements
for advancing to candidacy. Be sure to follow the requirements of your
program. If you are in doubt, consult the program
advisor.
