Multiple Subject Credential - Asian Languages / English BCLAD TrackTo help meet the demand for qualified Asian bilingual/bicultural teachers, six Los Angeles area California State Universities have formed an Asian BCLAD Consortium which offers a unique inter-campus collaborative program through which qualified candidates earn a BCLAD Multiple Subject Credential in Cantonese, Khmer, Korean, Mandarin or Vietnamese. (Total units: 46 plus BCLAD Test #6) Prerequisites(4 units)
Co-Requisites (listed in recommended sequence) (5 units)
Asian BCLAD Requirements (6 units)Culture of Emphasis course - one for each language program (3 units):
Language of Emphasis - BCLAD Examination #6. See program advisor for recommended courses as preparation for the exam. Bilingual Pedagogy course - one for each language program (3 units):
Subject Specific Pedagogy Courses (15 units)You must be officially admitted to the Multiple Subject Credential Program to take the following pedagogy courses. It is recommended that EDEL 442 and EDEL 452 be taken concurrently. One pedagogy course may be taken during student teaching.
Student Teaching(16 units)Note: You must attend a Student Teaching Application Meeting and apply to student teach at the beginning of the semester before you take this course (please see Section 6).
