Multiple Subject Credential - 2042 Preliminary Teaching Credential ProgramThis track is not for ITEP undergraduate students. For information on the ITEP program, please call the Liberal Studies Dept. at 562-985-4228. Prepares teachers to work in pre-K though grade 12 multiple subject, self-contained classrooms. Teachers with this credential traditionally teach elementary (K-8) grades. (Total units: 40) Courses are listed in recommended sequence. Prerequisites (4 units)
Co-Requisites (5 units)Note: These two courses may be taken prior to being admitted to the MSCP.
Subject Specific Pedagogy Courses (15 units)You must be officially admitted to the Multiple Subject Credential Program in order to take the following pedagogy courses. It is recommended that EDEL 442 and EDEL 452 be taken concurrently.
Important: At least one pedagogy course must be taken OFF-CAMPUS at an elementary school site during daytime school hours, and at least one must be taken ON-CAMPUS. One pedagogy course may be taken during student teaching, although it is recommended that all courses be completed prior to student teaching. Student Teaching (16 units)Note: Students must attend a Student Teaching Application Meeting and apply to student teach at the beginning of the semester before you take this course (please see Section 6 of the MSCP Handbook for more information).
