College of Education Adjustment to State Budget Crisis

Due to the state budget crisis, all CSULB faculty and staff are required to take unpaid furlough days during the year. All College of Education offices will be closed 17 days between August 13th and June 30th. In addition, each staff member must take 7 personal furlough days. Consequently, responses to various types of requests for services (walk-in, mail, email, telephone) from college offices may be delayed. We apologize for the inconvenience.


All College of Education offices will be closed on the following days: 8/13, 8/21, 9/8, 10/9, 11/2, 11/25, 12/31, 1/4, 1/5, 1/6, 1/7, 3/26, 3/29, 4/21, 5/6, 6/4, & 6/18. Please note that these are budget-related campus closure days. College offices will also be closed on the normal holidays identified on the campus calendar.

The Teacher Preparation Advising Center (TPAC) is located in ED 1 - 67 within the College of Education at California State University, Long Beach.


TPAC Fall 2009 Office Hours:

  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 - 5:00. Closed for lunch 12:00-1:00 on Fridays.
  • Holiday Schedule: The campus will be closed on the following holidays: September 7, November 11, November 26, November 27, December 25.
  • TEACHER RESOURCE ROOM: Located in ED2-168, the Center is open to students taking courses in the Single Subject, Multiple Subject, Education Specialist Level I and ITEP programs. Resources include: Free printing for CSULB class assignments; Scanners; Die-cuts; Laminating; Project materials; Test Prep Guides for CBEST, CSET (Multiple Subject, Single Subject English, Social Science, Math, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Art, Spanish) & RICA. The Resource Room hours have been cut due to lack of funding for staff. Please contact Jan Condou at condouj@csulb.edu if you are interested in volunteering to help keep this valuable resource open!

Fall 2009 Resource Room hours: Monday: 9 am - 3 pm; Wednesday & Friday, 10 am - 12 pm.


PLEASE NOTE: Due to the California State budget crises, all CSU campuses have been directed that they may not accept any graduate/post-bac admission applications for the Spring 2010 term.

The Multiple Subject, Single Subject and Education Specialist Level I Credential Programs will accept program applications for Spring 2010 according to program deadlines. However, program admissions may be affected by budget restrictions. Admission to the Credential Program does not affect admission to the University.

  • Students who wish to take courses in Fall 2009, but have not applied to CSULB, may attempt to do so during the first week of the semester on a "space available" basis through Open University.
