Students must be enrolled in or have completed program prerequisites in order to apply to the Credential Program. Click here to download Application materials for the Education Specialist Level I Program. (PDF file)

The information packet contains a program overview, prerequisite conditions and courses, credential program requirements, application instructions and an application.

Students with general questions regarding the program and application will be advised by the staff of the Teacher Preparation Advising Center, ED1 - Room 67, 562-985-1105. In depth questions will be referred to the Level I Program coordinator or the Education Specialist faculty. Once candidates have been accepted into the program, they are assigned a faculty advisor for ongoing advisement.

The application to the University is separate from the application to the Credential Program.  Please note the deadlines below:

University Deadlines

  • Please Note: Due to the California State budget crisis, all CSU campuses have been directed that they may not accept any graduate/post-bac admission applicatons for the Spring 2010 term for any enrollment category.
  • Students may take program prerequisite courses in Spring 2010 through Open University, on a space-available basis.
  • Click here for instuctions on applying to CSU Long Beach for Fall 2010 (credential program application is separate). Deadline is June 1, 2010.

Credential Program Deadlines

  • Credential Program Application packets must be submitted in ED1-67 during the following periods: January 2 - March 1 for Summer/Fall admission to program; August 1 - October 1 for Winter/Spring admission to program.
  • Students must be enrolled in or have completed program prerequisites in order to apply to the Credential Program.

After application review, candidates meeting initial qualifications will be invited to complete an interview with program faculty. After interviews are completed, candidates will be informed in writing regarding acceptance into the program.
