College of Education Adjustment to State Budget Crisis

Due to the state budget crisis, all CSULB faculty and staff are required to take unpaid furlough days during the year. All College of Education offices will be closed 17 days between August 13th and June 30th. In addition, each staff member must take 7 personal furlough days. Consequently, responses to various types of requests for services (walk-in, mail, email, telephone) from college offices may be delayed. We apologize for the inconvenience.

All College of Education offices will be closed on the following days: 8/13, 8/21, 9/8, 10/9, 11/2, 11/25, 12/31, 1/4, 1/5, 1/6, 1/7, 3/26, 3/29, 4/21, 5/6, 6/4, & 6/18. Please note that these are budget-related campus closure days. College offices will also be closed on the normal holidays identified on the campus calendar.

Forms for Prospective and Current Students Now Available Online:

Due to state budget cuts to the CSU, the College is unable to provide paper copies of application materials for prospective students and forms for current students. Prospective students can view and download information and application packets for all of our programs here. If you have special circumstances that prevent you from downloading an application, please contact us for a hard copy application.

If you are a current student and are looking for a form, we have expanded the offering of commonly used student forms online.  Visit our updated section for Forms for Current Students as well as the new Advancement to Candidacy Forms section.

Admission Updates:

Spring 2010 Admissions have been closed. Due to the California budget crisis, the California State University is facing an unprecedented reduction in its 2009-2010 support budget. In order to assure both quality and access, the CSU system must bring enrollment in line with available limited resources by implementing extraordinary enrollment management policies. As a result, all CSU campuses have been directed to not accept admission applications to state supported programs for the Spring 2010 term for any enrollment category.

Please note that the application deadlines for Fall 2010 for the Counseling options will be earlier than in years past, and no late applications will be accepted:

School Counseling deadline:  January 15, 2010

Marriage and Family Therapy deadline:  February 1, 2010 (normally January 30)

Student Development in Higher Education deadline:  February 15, 2010

Counseling Programs Open House - Friday, November 20, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Location: CBA 140A (College of Business Administration Building, Room 140A)
