Librarianship Program
The Librarianship Program at CSULB is designed to prepare
fully-qualified, outstanding librarian professionals, and emphasizes
meeting the information and reading needs of its diverse youth population.
It offers a Library Media Teacher services credential and a Master of Arts
in Education, Option in Librarianship degree.
The state and
NCATE-accredited program is based on the principles and philosophy
of Information Power, the American Association of School Librarians'
guidelines. As such, the program emphasizes the triple role of the Library
Media Teacher as Teacher/Partner, Information Specialist and
Program Administrator.
The program is strongly committed to the principles of equal opportunity
for diverse populations. Assignments, readings, and
course objectives emphasize the importance of multicultural / multilingual
programs and materials. Course delivery is provided in face-to-face and online formats to meet the needs of various communities.
